I help people and businesses navigate ever-shifting terrain, offering perceptive analysis, emotional insight, and cultural and interpersonal context. I work at the intersection of culture, business, and society, helping fulfill real human needs in efficient and effective ways. As a certified Coach (PCC and CPCC), I’m able to work in a sustained, committed and engaged rhythm to help my clients towards true transformation. Over my career I’ve been an award-winning editor and publisher, held leadership positions at a range of media start-ups and consulted with Fortune 500 companies. I’m intimately familiar with creators, producers, executives, and thought leaders and their needs, challenges and opportunities. I facilitate collaboration across genres, disciplines and cultural contexts, developing mutually rewarding relationships.

My coaching clients have ranged from diplomats to dog trainers, screenwriters to interaction designers, from the Head of Data Science at a publicly-traded streaming video company to the co-founder of a late-stage start-up in real estate technology, from the Chief People Officer of a late-stage FinTech start-up to the  Chief People Officer of a late-stage AdTech start-up. I’ve coached leaders across departments—C-suite, Engineering, Product, Enterprise Sales, Legal, Marketing, Customer Support, and Customer Success; across industries—finance, healthcare, media, advertising, consulting, and CPG; and across countries and continents—San Francisco, Seattle, San Diego, Boston, New York, Chicago, St. Louis, Costa Rica, Israel, the UK, India, Singapore and France.

Prior to coaching and consulting, I led  partnerships and content at the culture discovery start-up Small Demons and the new media app Byliner. Previously I ran independent publishers Soft Skull Press and Red Lemonade where I published Maggie Nelson, NBCC finalist for criticism Lynne Tillman, PEN Bingham winner Vanessa Veselka’s Zazen, Man Booker International Finalist Alain Mabanckou, Pulitzer finalist Lydia Millet, Jonathan Evison, Eileen Myles, Wayne Koestenbaum, Charlie Jane Anders, Adrienne Maree Brown, and many others, for which work I was awarded the Association of American Publishers’ Award for Creativity in Independent Publishing in 2005.

As a thought leader I offer broad perspectives on social and economic models of knowledge and culture development and dissemination and how technology interfaces with them. I’ve spoken on the future of media at SXSWi, GigaOM, the Korean Translation Institute in Seoul, the Future of Media Conference in Helsinki, the Beinecke Library at Yale University, O’Reilly’s Tools of Change, at Future Book, the Frankfurt Book Fair, Milan’s IfBookThen, Media Evolution in Sweden, and Booknet Canada in Toronto when my keynote was described by former Wired Editor-in-Chief Chris Anderson as the “best talk on the future of publishing I’ve ever seen.” Years of exploration and experience in cultural and technological transformation have earned me the trust of TV and radio producers, reporters, and writers across European, North and South American, Indian and Pacific Rim media. In 2010 the Utne Reader included me as one of Fifty Visionaries Changing Your World.
